Using an iPad or iPhone

Which link should I tap to download an e-book?

  • You will need an e-reader app installed on your device that allows you to download and read e-books. The app you use will determine which format you download.
  • Select 'EPUB' if you use an e-reader app such as Apple iBooks or Readmill.
  • Select 'MOBI' if you use the Amazon Kindle app.

When I tap a download link it doesn't work. Why?

  • Check that you are still connected to the internet.
  • Be patient, some e-book files are large and will take time to download, especially on 3G.
  • The some browsers don't currently support e-book downloads, use a browser such as Safari, Chrome, or Dolphin.

Using an Android tablet or mobile

  • Select 'EPUB' if you use an e-reader app such as Readmill, Blio or Aldiko.
  • Select 'MOBI' if you use the Amazon Kindle app. You can use the app Book Loader for Kindle to load MOBI files into your Kindle app.

Using an Amazon Kindle

How do I load an e-book onto my Kindle?

  • Use a PC/Mac to download the MOBI file.
  • Connect your Kindle device to the PC/Mac using a USB cable.
  • Your Kindle device will appear in the same location as external USB drives usually appear. For Windows PC users, this is typically in the 'Computer' or 'My Computer' menu. For Mac users, the drive will appear on the desktop.
  • Open the Kindle drive. You will see several folders inside, one of which will be named 'Documents'.
  • Locate the downloaded e-book and copy it into the 'Documents' folder. You can copy files by clicking and dragging the file to the folder.
  • Safely eject your Kindle device from your computer and unplug the USB cable.
  • The e-book will appear on the Home screen.

Using an e-reader device such as a Kobo or a NOOK

How do I load an e-book onto my device?

  • Use a PC/Mac to download the EPUB file.
  • Connect your device to the PC/Mac using a USB cable.
  • Your device will appear in the same location as external USB drives usually appear. For Windows PC users, this is typically in the 'Computer' or 'My Computer' menu. For Mac users, the drive will appear on the desktop.
  • Open the device drive.
  • Locate the downloaded e-book and copy it into the folder specified by the manufacturer for external e-books. You can copy files by clicking and dragging the file to the folder.
  • Safely eject your device from your computer and unplug the USB cable.
  • The e-book will appear on your device.
